Rounding out the tip of the south Okanagan, and providing the warmest welcome in countryOsoyoos is Canada’s only living desert. Accordingly, the beaches in Osoyoos are connected to the warmest lake in Canada as well. This means that you can enjoy water-related activities for even longer throughout the year. If the question on your mind is where to live in Osoyoos, you have your choice of living on (or close to) Osoyoos Lake or closer to the mountains.  

Osoyoos is a small, friendly community that benefits from being close to the U.S. border. It’s also classified as one of B.C.’s resort communities which gives the city the benefit of providing more funding for activities and tourismAlthough small in population, there are a large number of things to do in Osoyoos. Unique attractions and enchanting events offer plenty of experience unique to the area.

Of course, Osoyoos Lake offers more to do than just swimming. Boating, tubing, water-skiing, wakeboarding, kayaking, and paddleboarding are all available to you on the lake. Alternatively, relax and work on your tan by enjoying the hot sun on the beach. 

Osoyoos has a unique heritage as a city and a rich cultural backstory. The Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre in Osoyoos is a state-of-the-art, family-friendly facility that delves deep into the history of the Okanagan people. With interactive learning options and both indoor and outdoor education areas there’s plenty to see and do. 

The summertime doesn’t hold all the fun in Osoyoos, however. A short drive away is Mount Baldy which offers the classic champagne powder the Okanagan is known for. Ski or snowboard your way down the mountain on your choice of many runs—you can test your skills or just enjoy the ride. 

Outdoor activities are aplenty in the area. Hiking and biking trails offer stunning views and complete workouts on their own. The International Hike and Bike trail is an especially fun challenge, although if you prefer a more focused time outdoors the Osoyoos Golf Club offers its own fun hurdle to test your skills.
